Uncovering: Secrets of the Ledger

Curious to know how we put together our Secrets of the Ledger exhibit? Sherry Wyatt and Becky Novy will be giving a special talk on Thursday, July 31 from 5 - 7 pm that will share how we uncovered the secrets of the ledger.

Before opening in September of 2024, this exhibit had been in production for over one and a half years - hundreds and hundreds of hours went into transcribing the ledger, analyzing its contents and finding patterns, researching 1820s shopping habits and culture, and identifying the history of customers who frequented the store. This process involved over 34 volunteers, plus staff!

However, we started this increasingly complex project by outlining the big ideas and main concepts that we wanted to focus upon - check out our original idea chart! Over a year later, these ideas had solidified into a well rounded exhibit with a digital interactive, sensory engaging experiences, and a video to help immerse you in an 1820s general store!

This event is free and open to the public. Learn, listen, and enjoy some refreshments!
