Giving Day Celebration, Volunteer Appreciation, and Exhibit Reception

Come join us for a special jam-packed celebration - June 25 is Giving Day, Volunteer Appreciation, and the Portraiture and Photography exhibit reception!

We went above and beyond our Give Local goal in 2024 - help us keep that momentum going! Help us reach the amount raised last year - we're setting our Give Local Goal for 2025 at $61,240!

Your support makes all the difference to the Montgomery Museum’s capability to continue serving the community, protect our collection, and offer stellar community programming. Considering giving to the museum for Give Local - from June 1 to 26 at noon we’ll be collecting donations to reach our goal for this year’s Give Local. Even a donation of $5 helps us out immensely!

As our Give Local story for this year surrounds community service, this reception is also celebrating our wonderful volunteers. The museum itself depends heavily on volunteers to provide collection care and community programming - help us celebrate over 100 volunteers!

This reception serves as the exhibit reception for our new exhibit "Portraiture & Photograph: Changing Techniques & Technology," which examines the tradition and cultural phenomenon of portraiture - what it meant to the sitters, the technological processes, and how portraits were perceived by society. Using early daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, crayon enlargement photographs, film, and instant cameras, this exhibit tracks portraiture from the 1840s to present day. The portraits themselves feature individuals from the local area, providing a close tie to the cultural heritage of Montgomery County.

Help us also reach our fundraising goal of $61,240 - which will help support and grow out exhibits, collection, and community programming.
