Joanna Sunshine
Fiber artist for more than 60 years, Joanna Sunshine believes that what she does tells her what to do. Thus, the search continues in her studio on the family farm in Appalachia, Virginia which she shares with her artist/collaborator husband, Donald. The intention is to elevate the craft of weaving to Fiber Art. “For me the satisfaction of the work results from the doing. Interest is in the search and experimentation of technique . . . investigation . . . spontaneity . . . intuition . . . surprise . . . and doing . . . always doing.”
Her work has been exhibited nationally including the Virginia Museum of Fine Art, Chrysler Museum, Savannah College of Art and Design, Virginia Tech’s Moss Art Center, Roanoke College, and Radford University’s Art Museum.
